2022 Annual Fundraiser Dinner

The Great Basin Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association is excited to extend an invitation for this year’s Annual Fundraiser Dinner.  This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Saskia Duyvesteyn who is a Chief Advisor of Research & Development with Rio Tinto Kennecott.  With COVID, attendees are encouraged to be vaccinated and wear a mask at any time while not eating or drinking. Despite the challenges present with COVID, this will be a great opportunity to celebrate the 2022 scholarship winners and to connect with fellow professionals in a fun and social atmosphere while hearing about Rio Tinto’s research and development related to recovery of Tellurium.

2019 Annual Fundraiser Dinner – September 12 at 6:30pm

The Great Basin Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association is excited to extend an invitation for this year’s A&WMA Great Basin Chapter’s Annual Fundraiser Dinner.  This year’s keynote speaker is Rob Potts, Chief Operating Officer of Renewlogy.  Renewlogy is an organization that turns certain plastics into fuel for re-use.  In his presentation, Mr. Potts will discuss basics on how Renewlogy’s processes work. This will be a great opportunity to connect with fellow professionals in a fun, social atmosphere while hearing about cutting edge recycling technology.

Webinar on the Trump Administration and GHG Policy and Regulation – August 23rd at 11:00am

The Great Basin Chapter will be hosting a recording of  the webinar “The Trump Administration and Greenhouse Gas Policy and Regulation” jointly sponsored by the American Bar Association and the Air & Waste Management Association. The webinar will examine the latest developments coming from the Administration regarding executive orders, rulemakings, Congressional Review Act repeals, policy, and litigation regarding greenhouse gas policy and regulation.

Presentation on Utah’s PM2.5 Serious Nonattainment Designation – May 24th at noon

A Utah Division of Air Quality (UDAQ) representative, Marty Gray, will provide an update on the development of the PM2.5 Serious Nonattainment State Implementation Plan (SIP) and other impacts to the Wasatch Front. The presentation will focus on implementation dates, the application of best available control technologies and most stringent measures, and area source rules and other impacts to minor sources. The UDAQ is tailoring this presentation to answer specific questions or address topics important to our A&WMA members.

Air Quality: Science for Solutions is holding a one-day conference emphasizing scientific progress in the understanding of Utah’s complicated and unique air quality issues.

This is the first of an annual conference series organized by the University of Utah, Utah State University, Brigham Young University, Weber State University, and the Utah Division of Air Quality.

Thanks to the generosity of the conference sponsors, regular registration is only $10 if you register by March 15.  After that time, late registration is $20.

It’s the time of year to show your support for future scientists and engineers (a.k.a science fair time)!

The Great Basin Chapter is sponsoring awards at the upcoming science fairs across Utah. We invite you to be a judge at a science fair near you and select an outstanding project that represents A&WMA’s mission.
